A crucifix from the late 12th century by an unknown woodcutter from Tirol. It is worth noting that this crucifix looks different than the ones we see most often. Jesus wears a crown, not of thorns, but the crown of a king. His body is not broken, no signs of the immense suffering he nderwent. That image only became popular from the 13th century onwards. This is older, and having a different message: Christ triumphant over death. Death and Resurrection both present in one crucifix…..
